One of my favourite songs by Foals, featuring one my favourite Jack Bevan drum parts!

A few things to watch out for:

  • That verse groove. It’s pretty intricate! If you struggle with the hi-hat pattern, simplify it. Straight eighth notes will still sound good.

  • I’ve used quite a lot of repeats in the transcriptions, so watch out for those.

  • You might confused about what you should do in bars 64 to 72. You can’t really hear the crashes on the track but live Jack Bevan plays the hi-hat with his right hand and the crash with his left. The cymbals start quietly and gradually build in volume. You’ll see what I mean in this video of Foals’ 2015 Reading Festival performance.
