I've only listened to this about fifty times this week!

Tony Allen on drums. The EP came out of sessions with him before he died, and it's worth hearing all the way through. The live versions with Vincent Taeger are good too.

Adam Neely on Suno, AI music and where things might be heading. Thought-provoking video with plenty for musicians and music fans to think about. The idea that live music could become more distinct from recorded music, more like theatre than cinema, was particularly interesting.

Personally I can't imagine choosing to listen to music solely generated by AI. The idea doesn't appeal to me. The more I learn about Suno (the company), the less I like it, even if the technology itself is impressive.

I’ve just started reading Molly Gebrian’s book Learn Faster, Perform Better. Her YouTube series, What Musicians Can Learn About Practicing from Current Brain Research, is a great introduction to the ideas in the book. It’s packed with insights on how to practise and learn more effectively.

I’m thoroughly enjoying Ian Leslie’s book John & Paul. Love the detail about the recording of Twist & Shout. How did I never notice John Lennon had a heavy cold?

Can’t remember how I stumbled on this, but wow. The footage looks and sounds incredible, and they all look like they’re having an amazing time. SO much energy. Can’t wait to watch the full concert film. Gutted I missed it in IMAX last year!
